We visited the Treehouse – South location on a Tuesday morning at 10am. It’s tucked in a small strip mall off a side road in Midnapore and when we pulled in we wondered how everything fit inside. We were pleasantly surprised.

This indoor play space is pretty unusual. It was developed through a partnership with the Emmanual Foundation (who installs recycled playgrounds to places in the world where children would otherwise not have access) with the help of GPI Outdoor Designs Inc and CDC Recreation Inc. It’s basically an outdoor playground moved inside.

It’s been a couple years since my last review of Tommy K Play. The biggest change is to the toddler area. The toddler area now has a small climber and slide elevating the value for younger kids. We met another couple and their two kids at Tommy K Play on a Saturday afternoon. It was fairly busy but there was still places to sit down if you wanted.
Gordie had a lot of fun on this playground, but did find it to be pretty challenging. It doesn’t offer a lot for toddlers, so I wouldn’t plan on them spending a lot of time here. The gardens also have fish to look at and a fountain (as well as the plants!) so it would still be a fun diversion.

I had heard that the new Calgary Farmers’ Market location had a play area, but didn’t expect it to be anything like this. Rather than the collection of panels I had thought it would be, it is like a smaller version of an indoor play centre.
