Gordie’s Review (2 years old): the rope bridge!
Age Range: 18 months – 10
Ground Cover: recycled tire.

Features: school-aged climber with ramp, 2 slides, rock wall climber, spinner, rope bridge and musical panel; preschool climber with slide; 4 swings (2 baby); 4 seater bench bouncer; bowl spinner.
Surrounding Park Area: soccer fields, basket ball courts, outdoor hockey rink with boards.

Shade: great shade from mature trees and the playground both inside the play area and on the perimeter.
Accessibility: There entire play area has accessible flooring. There is a ramp on the school-aged climber with tic-tac-toe at the top. There is also a musical panel underneath the the climber that could be accessed from a wheelchair. There are a couple of spinners and a large bouncer that would be great kids who benefit from vestibular motion.
Seating: 3 picnic tables and 5 benches

Overall assessment: Although this playground does have accessible flooring, there is not a lot to offer for kids in wheelchairs. They can move throughout the play area, but there is not a lot that they can access. It would be excellent for kids with reduced motor skills though. The play structures have steps and the school-aged climber has even has a ramp which makes them accessible to anyone who’s a bit unsteady on their feet.

Although the playground is not fenced, it is set back from the street (which is a quiet street anyway). There’s also no little pieces of ground cover for anyone to swallow. The sightlines are also quite good making it easy to supervise the kids while they play.

Gordie was really drawn to the green rock wall climber and managed to climb all the way up and down by himself. The littlest kids will love the ease at which they can get around on the accessible flooring and the older kids will love challenging themselves on the climber.

This playground would be a great addition to any community.
