Your Child’s Review: My child is 3 years old. She squealed with delight about the playground and cried when we went home. There were no specific reviews, except the fact she was thrilled about absolutely everything! If there was something specific to get excited about, it was rock climbing.
Age Range: 2-12
Ground Cover: pea gravel
Features: 3 slides, Structure with stairs, ladder, 2 rock walls, circular climber, orange climber, and vertical wall to climb and play area under the structure with ice cream area and more; many different hanging structures (probably about 10 different types), 2 saucer swings, large rope merry go round, rock climbing structure, one little cup spinner, and done little rocking horse.
Surrounding Park Area: To the south is the Coach Hill/Patterson Heights community centre as well as an outdoor hockey rink. To the northeast there is a baseball diamond.
Shade: Plenty of shade on the east side of the playground from mature trees. There’s also shade on the play structure itself.
Accessibility: Limited. Given the pea gravel in the playground area, pushing a stroller into the playground itself would be challenging. Getting to the playground via a stroller would be really easy!
Seating: here’s plenty of seating for parents around the east and west perimeter of the playground. I counted at least 6 benches around the edge of the playground.
Overall assessment: This is a great playground for all ages. There are challenges for all ages, from a balance beam, to a number of areas for climbing to a topsy-turvy twist on a hang bar. The latter is pictured – the corkscrew monkey bar turns as you hold onto it, making it challenging for the older kids who can reach it.
There’s a rock structure in the middle of the playground to enable kids to ‘rock climb’ without the need for extra support. The new type of merry-go-round has been installed at this playground, which rotates and has ropes supported by a pole up the middle. It was really hard to spin by the adults, but likely wouldn’t be if there wasn’t many kids on the structure.
The slides at the playground also featured different grooves for different experiences going down them. One was bumpy so you could bump down the grooves and the other ones were grooved to keep little bums inside the slide.
There are no traditional swings at this park, but the saucer swings where several kids can pile on and swing back and forth.
This brand-new playground is sure to be a hit. It’s worth a drive for a change of pace and to explore things you may not find at other playgrounds. I’ve seen some of the things at this playground only at school playgrounds, so this would also be great to bring your preschoolers to on school days without all the kids.
There is plenty of equipment and space to play in, even if the playground is busy. Honestly, there were too many climbers to accurately describe and count, even based on photos. It was plenty of fun and we will be visiting this playground again!
All of the children we saw at this playground were having fun, from the toddler to the 10 year olds.
