Gordie’s Review (2 years old): The bridge! (He loved the challenge of the ladder bridges)
Age Range: 18 months -10 years
Ground Cover: recycled tire over the main area, pea gravel around the swings and large spinner.
Features: Accessible area – Large climber with ramps, slides, rock wall, ladder bridge, rope ladder bridge, spinner, panels; 2 sets of panels on ground level; 2 seat spinners; Pea Gravel Area – 2 saucer swings; 4 swings (2 baby); 1 large merry-go-round spinner.
Surrounding Park Area: There are a number of soccer fields and a baseball diamond. Because of this, it can get quite busy on Saturday morning.
Shade: some shade is provided by the playground equipment itself
Seating: 3 benches, 2 picnic tables.
Accessibility: The playground is largely accessible. A bike path runs through the park and connects to the playground but it is a bit of a walk to get to the park from the road. The large climber has ramps that allow access up three levels and has room for a wheelchair to turn around at each junction. The accessible flooring allows people with low mobility or wheelchairs to get right in amongst the play throughout the area. There are a number of panels at ground level and along the ramped area of the climber.
Overall assessment: I had 3 different people tell me to review this playground and now that I’ve been, I can see why. This newly developed playground has something for everyone.
The ramps and accessible flooring make it great for early walkers or those unsteady on their feet. The large spinner is extremely popular with the kids at the park and unlike some is well balanced and easy to spin.
Gordie really loved climbing across the ladder and rope bridges which he hadn’t seen before. The large climber is designed so kids can move around it and almost never have to touch the ground. It’s definitely worth going a bit out of your way for.
