Location map
Community: Alpine Park – Bluerock Way & and Alpine Way SW
Parking: free street parking
Park Area: This is a pretty large, newly developed park space. The trees are generally young but some real effort has been made with landscaping throughout and creating a community hub with the picnic area to the south of the playground.
Nicky’s Review (11 years old): “I liked the slide and the swings”
Robbie’s Review (8 years old): “It was pretty good. The two slides were awesome.”
Age Range: 5-12 years
Ground cover: wood chips
Features: Large climber with slides, large log climber, swings (2 regular, 1 nest),
Accessibility/Inclusiveness: There are pathways around the play area. Some people may find the wood chips easier to get around in as compared to things like pea gravel. The nest swing could be used in tandem or laying down.
Shade: There are a number of trees around the play and picnic areas. They are still fairly young but the shade at this park will continue to improve year over year.
Seating: benches and picnic tables
Overall assessment: This park is different from a lot of parks in Calgary and includes a great slide and fun log climbers. For a new area, the park space is a lot more landscaped than many, elevating the park even more.
