Age Range: 5-12
Ground Cover: pour-in-place recycled tire flooring
Features: School aged climber with ramp, bridges, wobbly bridge, twisty slide; merry-go-round spinner; bowl spinner; 2 person standing spinner; ring spinner; 3 saucer swings; wave balance beam
Surrounding Park Area: school, athletic fields
Shade: the climber provides some shade in and around the play area
Seating: several benches and a few picnic tables.
Accessibility: Entire playground has accessible flooring. There is also a ramp up to the first level – the platform has enough room to turn around in a wheelchair and activity panels that you can be accessed.
Kids who can transfer may also enjoy the saucer swings and merry-go-round spinner. For kids to benefit from vestibular stimulation, there are a number of things that swing or spin.
Overall Assessment: This is a really great school playground. It would be accessible and challenging to all students. It’s large with a lot of variety.
Younger kids will also enjoy many of the playground’s features but should probably be more closely monitored – the playground is designed for school-aged kids only and so younger kids may find themselves out of their depth quickly.
The school is now called Connect Charter School but the playground and everything else remains the same.
