Community: 101 Carousel Drive – Missoula, Montana
Surrounding Park Area: Right next to A Carousel for Missoula.
Gordie’s Review (10 years old): “It was just elaborate and I loved it. The mist-er was a good thing.”
Nicky’s Review (7 years old): “I liked where you had to go up in a crazy way and then down a slide and the monkey bars, and the merry-go-round and the carousel beside it.”
Robbie’s Review (4 years old): “The carousel”
Age Range: 18 months – 12 years.
Ground Cover: wood chips and pour-in-place recycled tire
Shade: Shade provided by large mature trees, the play structure itself and a gazebo area.
Features: Huge wooden play structure with a dragon theme and slides; Smaller Tot area with toddler sized climbers and musical features. Accessible section with swings, tall rope spinner, hill slide and ground level wheelchair accessible merry-go-round.
Accessibility: It would be difficult for a wheelchair to navigate but it would work well for someone with reduced mobility
Seating: plenty of places to sit.
Overall assessment: This is one of my favorite playgrounds ever of all time. The design is very different from typical playgrounds. In many ways it is more like a indoor playground with lots of steps, places to explore, twists and turns and big slides to go down.
The visibility inside is poor but it’s great for playing with your kids. We were able to go through most of the playground comfortably with our baby in a carrier on an earlier visit.
The entire play area is also fenced so there are limited exit points. There is a fantastic toddler area as well for kids who like to be independent but aren’t ready to navigate the big climber by themselves yet.
It has been recently improved with an added inclusive and accessible section with some really cool features. If you are in the area you should definitely stop by.
