Gordie’s Review (2 years old): the ladder bridge
Age Range: 2-12.
Ground Cover: recycled tire flooring
Features: Large climbing structure with slide, ramps, rock wall, and ladder bridge; dinosaur climber; climbing wall; 4 seater wobbler; 2 bowl spinners; 4 swings (2 baby).
Surrounding Park Area: next to Rundle College Elementary. There is a large field that I expect belongs to the school.
Shade: There are some large trees on two sides of the playground and some shade would also be cast by the playground itself.
Accessibility: Fully accessible flooring. You could get right up into the play in a wheelchair and a few places you could go under and through. There are two ramps to the first level of the play structure so you could ride around in a loop. There are swings and a couple of bowl spinners for kids who benefit from vestibular motion. The park area is fenced but has a couple of not gated exits.
Seating: 4 benches, 1 picnic table. There are a couple of benches that face the field next to the playground as well.
Overall assessment: This playground should be entertaining for both big and little kids. Although the play structure doesn’t get particularly high, items like the climbing wall and overhead spinners should be challenging enough to hold the attention of older kids.
And with the ramps and recycled tire flooring, even the littlest kids will be able to get in on the action. Gordie loved slowly walking across the ladder bridge and was intrigued by the silver wobbler which I haven’t seen in any other playground. This playground held his attention for quite a long time too.
