Gordie’s Review (3 years old): “What was the best part of the park?” “Running around with my friends”
Age Range: 0-5 years.
Ground Cover: Pour in place recycled tires
Shade: some shade from mature trees.
Features: preschool play structure with ramps (3 levels), slides and activity panels, 2 seater bouncer, 4-seater bouncer, toddler climbing wall, bowl spinner, 4 swings(1 baby, 1 accessible).
Surrounding Park Area: large field, baseball diamond
Accessibility: This is one of the most accessible playgrounds in the city. The flooring is 100% accessible, and ramps provide access to all but one small section of the climber. In addition, at each ‘intersection’ of the climber there is enough room for a wheelchair to turn around, and there are a lot of fun activity panels to play with. There is also a number of things that bounce or swing for kids who benefit from vestibular stimulation.
Seating: 2 picnic tables and 2 benches.
Overall assessment: This playground has a cute jungle theme and was built just last year. The playground is fantastic for kids under 5, especially those unsteady on their feet. Kids older than 5 will probably get bored quickly as there would be little to challenge them.
There is one section on the East side that is designed for slightly bigger kids, but even the two year old in our group was able to master it. It’s also worth noting – this playground is used frequently by a nearby day care and can get quite busy when they are there. If you have little kids though, I highly recommend giving it a try.
We were at this playground this summer. One feature that was notable is the planes that fly overhead. The park seems to be underneath the flight pattern. Some kids would really like this feature.
