Gordie’s Review (2 years old): The climber! The swing! The spinner! The bouncer! (basically Gordie loved this playground)

Age Range: 0-12 years
Ground Cover: Recycled tire

Features: School-aged climber with ramp, slide, mountain climber, overhead steering wheel spinners, climbing wall, tall spinner; toddler climber with a house/jeep theme with slide and climbing ramp; 3 swings (1 baby, 1 saucer); large ring spinner; dinosaur climber; large snail bouncer; bowl spinner; chimes with two hammers.

Surrounding Park Area: This isn’t a large park area but it has nice mature trees and a flat grassy area behind the playground.
Shade: There are some large leafy trees on the edge of the play area as well as shady space underneath the large play structure.
Seating: 3 or 4 benches and 3 picnic tables

Accessibility: Accessible flooring provides access throughout the play area and right up to all the playground structures. There is a ramp on the large play structure which provides access up 1 level which has 2 panels (1 interactive).

The toddler play structure has some movable parts on the jeep side that could be accessed from a wheelchair. The chimes are at ground level and are accessible to everyone.

The saucer swing could be accessed by children who could be transferred or just had lower motor skills. There are many things that swing, spin or bounce for children who benefit from those types of vestibular motion.

Overall assessment: This is an excellent playground with great accessibility and a wide variety of different play opportunities.

Gordie absolutely loved this playground. Normally even if he can’t manage to tell me what he liked best I can usually tell. But he loved everything. He was like a little happy bumblebee. I would love it if this playground was in my neighbourhood.

I discovered your blog yesterday, and our family of 4 (two boys, 7 and 3) tried out Mayfair Park last night. The 3 year old didn’t stop for a minute, usually he clings to my husband or me. On the way home, the 7 year old said this was his best playground visit EVER… enough said. Thank you for your blog!
