Adults Only Nights at Telus Spark is as advertised. They check IDs at the door and serve alcohol in the atrium. My husband and I checked it out with another couple in July. Our friends had been before and said it was busier the last time they went. This time it was well attended but there was lots of space.
Each Adults Only Night, they have a theme and a schedule of events including things like talks in the atrium, challenges and other activities that you can choose to partake in or not. For an additional cost you can also watch a show at the Dome Theatre.
This month the theme was the Stampede and one of the things you could do was construct a cardboard Midway Game. They also have music playing which gives it a bit more of a party atmosphere.
Although we had been to Telus Spark many times with our kids this was the first time my husband and I had gone to an Adults Only Night. The biggest takeaway I have is that it is what you make it.
If you are prepared to have a good time and try things out and be a bit silly, you will probably have fun. If you’re just going to walk through and not interact with anything, it probably will seem like a waste of time.
If the weather is cooperating, I highly recommend going outside to the Brainasium. This is going to be more fun if you wear comfortable shoes. Climbing up to the top of the slide is harder than I thought but a really fun kind of exercise.
The regular exhibits inside the science centre are also open. We went though and played with a lot of the different exhibits both upstairs and downstairs.
In addition to the bar in the atrium, you can get snacks and drinks in the caffeteria upstairs and they have lots of seating if you want to stop and talk for a while.
We had a pretty good time and I would definitely consider going again. If your family has passes to Telus Spark, then your date night activity is free!
