Location map
South Glenmore Park – 90 Ave. & 24 St. S.W.
Parking: There is a large free parking lot at the entrance to the playground
Surrounding Park Area: The playground is very close to Glenmore reservoir, home of the Glenmore sailing school which also has boat lessons. There are also walking, biking and hiking trails as well as tennis courts. Click here for a review of South Glenmore Park itself.
Shade: Nice mature trees provide good shade. The play structures also have some nice shade-providing canopies. It can easily get so busy at the park that it’s hard to find some shade though. Bringing a park umbrella or bringing chairs so you could sit under the gazebo would be a good idea.
Seating: Several benches and picnic tables. It can get very busy though, so you still may want to bring a picnic blanket.

You can get a review of the surrounding playground here. The playground was updated in 2021 and may not match the photos on this post.
Typically open from mid-June until Labor Day.
Gordie’s Review (6 years old): “I liked everything!”
Nicky’s Review (3 years old): “I liked running through the hoop!”
Robbie’s Review (6 months old): not enough shade. I wish I had brought a sunshade for him.
Age Range: all ages.
Features: Multiple spray park features. Washrooms are open seasonally.
Overall assessment: This spray park is brand new this summer (2015) and is a lot of fun. There are buckets that dump and can be spun, a boat you can stand in and lots of big and small sprays. There is also a little ‘river’ area that is popular with smaller kids.
This park is very popular and can get quite busy. We were there on the first Friday morning and despite what the pictures below might suggest, it was super busy! If you have a little one who is a little overwhelmed there are some smaller sprays a bit out of the way next to the gazebo.
Helloo when will this spray’s open? Just went here yesterday at around 6pm but no sprays…
my son would be excited to play with the water fountains or spray…
The spray parks and wading pools in Calgary typically run from mid-June until labour day.
Hi, my daughter want’s to celebrate her 14th birthday in the park on Aug 25th, so do i have to book for the event or just go to there early so i can find a nice spot.. Thank you!! Estrella (mom)
Hi Estrella,
You can just go early and find a nice spot. South Glenmore only has one bookable picnic site anyway. You should only need to book if want to guarantee that site or if you are bringing in additional things like tents or bouncy castles.
You can find more info here: https://www.calgary.ca/CSPS/Recreation/Pages/Rentals-and-bookings/Before-booking-a-picnic-site.aspx
Hi, we are looking to do our children’s birthday party there. We would like the gazebo. Do we need to book? Also, we are planing on June 20, would the park and water park be opened? I read something about construction. Thank you
