Location map
Community: Cambrian Heights – 240 Cardiff Dr. NW. (just east of Northmount Dr.)
Parking: There is free street parking.
Surrounding Park Area: These two playgrounds are located within easy sight line of each other. There is a large grassy area and 2 baseball diamonds. The playgrounds are close to school buildings (so expect them to be busy during recess and lunch) and the Cambrian Heights Community Centre.
Playground 1
Gordie’s Review (7 years old): “I liked the wobbly balance beam”
Nicky’s Review (4 years old): “I liked the spinny ring thing”
Robbie’s Review (16 months old) : The bus was the best!
Age Range: All ages
Ground Cover: Pour-in-place recycled tire
Features: A large school-age play structure with 2 slides; 3 large saucer swings; chimes (missing mallet); store panel for imaginative play; merry-go-round apollo spinner; hinge balance beam; bowl spinner; big ring spinner, aeroglider.
Shade: A very large tree gives great shade in and around part of the play area.
Seating: A few picnic tables and benches
Accessibility: Great ground access throughout the play area. A few things could be accessed from a wheel chair and more could be enjoyed by someone who had a support person and could transfer. The Aeroglider is designed to be used by someone in a wheelchair.
Overall Assessment: This is a great park with a huge level of variety for different ages and ability levels. The only thing it is missing is a preschool play structure but there is still a lot of other things to amuse younger children.
There is also a preschool playground (see below) close enough so you could supervise older children from there. Robbie really enjoyed the ramps and Nicky and Gordie both loved the big ring spinner and wobbly balance beam.

Playground 2
Gordie’s Review (7 years old): “I liked the car bouncer”
Nicky’s Review (4 years old): “I liked horse bouncer”
Robbie’s Review (16 months old) : Didn’t love walking on the rocks.
Age Range: proficient walker to 4 years. Kids who are not proficient walkers will have more fun at playground 1 unless they want to play with the pea gravel.
Ground Cover: pea gravel
Features: Preschool play structure; 2 swings (1 infant); 2 bouncers; dinosaur climber.
Shade: Huge mature trees provide great shade in and around the play area.
Seating: 1 bench.
Accessibility: None
Overall Assessment: Although I normally wouldn’t review a playground of this size, it complements the other playground really well. Unfortunately, the ground cover is not great for crawlers and early walkers but otherwise it is a nice playground for toddlers and preschoolers. It would also be a great place to go with a small baby and older sibling as the shade is fantastic.
