Location: Community: Renfrew811 Radford Road N.E. (Beside the Renfrew Community Association – NOT the athletic park) map
Parking: There is free parking along the street and in the community centre parking lot.
Nicky’s Review (4 years old): “I like eating snack at the picnic table.”
Robbie’s Review (15 months old): Really enjoyed just walking around the ramps.
Age Range: Ages 5 and under.
Ground Cover: Outdoor playground carpet across most of the playground, a section of pour-in-place recycled tire flooring.
Features: One large play structure with 3 slides, 4 swings (1 baby, 1 handi-cap accessible), 4-kid bouncer, low hammock swing, gong and chimes (hammer is missing), 3 ground level pretend play areas, bowl spinner, 2-seat airplane bouncer.
Surrounding Park Area: Flat grassy area nearby, soccer field separated by a fence.
Shade: Good shade in the play area not much at the near picnic tables but more further back by the other two picnic tables.
Seating: 5 benches, 3 picnic tables.
Stroller/wheelchair access: Great wheelchair access. Many things at ground level and ramps in the play structure allow access to two levels. This would be a great playground to take a young child with mobility difficulties or in a wheelchair.
Overall assessment: This is an excellent playground for kids under 5. Great opportunities for active play and pretend play and allowing safe independence.
The ground covering is perfect for crawlers and early walkers. I would highly recommend anyone with young children make the trip to visit this playground.
