Location map
Community: Thorncliffe – 750 Blackthorn Rd. N.E.
Parking: There is a free parking lot at the entrance to the park but it is currently closed due to construction (April 2016). There is some street parking by the bike path along 4th St NE. (Don’t go in the bus trap!)

Gordie’s Review (7 years old) – “I really like how challenging this playground is and the diving board thing.”
Nicky’s Review (4 years old) – “Everything! Maybe the tall slide.”
Robbie’s Review (15 months) – Mostly liked walking around.

Surrounding Park Area: Inside Laycock Park – pathways, Nose Creek wetlands, covered picnic area, open grassy area, baseball diamonds.

Age Range: 0-12 years.
Ground Cover: Pour-in-place recycled tire flooring
Playground Features: large school-aged climber, standing spinners, tandem swing.

Shade: Some shady spots close to the playground
Seating: a few benches and a covered picnic site

Accessibility: Accessible flooring throughout the play area. Great for someone unsteady on their feet but there is not much someone in a wheelchair could access.

Overall assessment: This playground is designed for kids 5-12 and is more challenging than most playgrounds making it great for older kids. That being said my just turned 4 year old loved it.

Younger kids can still have fun here but may have trouble accessing some things and the stairs on the one climber can make it so kids can go higher than you may be comfortable with. Everyone can still enjoy the spinners and things on the ground level.
Going to this park requires a short walk (or bike ride) to get to.
