United States Botanic Gardens

The United States Botanic Gardens was a lovely place to take the kids particularly since the weather was kind of chilly when we went in February.

There is a large indoor conservatory which is open year round as well as outdoor gardens. A few areas including the children’s garden are closed during the winter but there is still plenty to see and the admission is free.

  1. We did it this summer in August when it was killer hot and humid! We couldn’t keep up with all the sweating. My 7yo was too small to rent the hourly bikes that were everywhere (they were all adult sized) … and then at the last moment I saw two bicycle rental places that had the bikes with a few co-pilot bike trailers so you could rent for kids. Next time we would do that!

Also there’s lots of food trucks a couple blocks off the National Mall area by one of the Metro stops and they were AMAZING!!! Worth the stop!
