Currie Barracks Airport Playground has a great imaginative theme and is one of Calgary’s best playgrounds.

Overall assessment:
The Currie Barracks Airport Playground is eye catching and immediately inviting for imaginative play. There are lots of opportunities for swinging, spinning and bouncing as well.
Older kids might not find that there is enough to challenge them, but younger kids will love flying the planes and soaring down the big slide. Really small kids will enjoy moving easily around the accessible flooring, bouncing in the airplane bouncers and swinging on the swings.
Airplane Runway
The pour-in-place recycled tire flooring really enhances the feeling that you are at an airport.
Nature play area
The nature-like features are not extensive but provide a little variety to the playground. Unfortunately it does have pea gravel under it which can spread to other parts of the playground.
This park looks awesome! Definitely need to check this one out!
Full points for style and surroundings. Good medium sized park.
There is construction blocking access to this park from Battleford Avenue. I don’t know if the road closure is temporary or permanent.
I found it by going around the other way and going to the end of Dieppe Drive. I just wanted to make others aware of the road block.
Can you rent the playground space for private birthday party for few hours?
Hi, you would need to contact the city but I don’t think they typically rent out playground spaces for private events. http://www.calgary.ca/CSPS/Recreation/Pages/Rentals-and-bookings/Before-booking-a-park-pathway-or-greenspace.aspx
Thank you for all your hard work on reviewing these playgrounds. I had to pop into Calgary today and searched your site for a playground not far from 17th Ave. This was our destination, and it is super cool. The construction makes it a challenge to locate, but my 2 boys (ages 3 and 7) loved it! The big slide was the icing on the cake (nice for little ones as it’s not super fast). I found the whole place very “organic” and thought it was so relaxing, especially the beautiful benches for the adults to sit at.
I love this playground! Just be aware that the parking lot is on the small side and can fill up quickly. The street parking is restricted, so it is sometimes hard to park.
Big slide is still good but otherwise the park doesnt have much for a 6 year old. I will not go again with my 6 year old boy
